Ride with Amazon and Fränk Schleck for charity

Amazon Charity Ride is an annual bike event that is organized by Amazon employees. Its concept is to connect Amazon EU offices with bike packing trips to raise funds for charities while having fun together.

History

The first edition of this amazing event was organized by Amazonians in the UK. It kicked off at the Hanover Building (MAN11) in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on Friday 1st, July 2022. It connected our corporate offices in Manchester to London in Shoreditch (LHR16), passing by a few Amazon Fulfilment Centers (e.g. EUK5) along the way. It was a three-day epic for 25 Amazonians! It raised £15k for NHS Charities Together.

After its evident success in 2022, the second edition of Amazon Charity Ride was organized on Saturday 1st, July 2023 where 95 Amazonians embarked on a cycling fundraiser for NHS Charities Together. There were three groups and together they’ve raised over £45,000. The first group pedaled their way 118km from London (LHR16) to Brighton, the second rode 280km all the way from London (LHR16) to Paris (CDG10) in just 24 hours and the third joined a virtual version of the ride. The rides raised money for NHS Charities together, which help provide the extra services, equipment and support that government funding can’t stretch to, including vital mental health support for the workforce, projects that transform patient care, and initiatives to prevent ill health in our communities and ease pressures on NHS services.

After having become a highly sought-after event, the third edition of Amazon Charity Ride saw the iconic London to Brighton ride happen again on Saturday 29th June 2024, giving 39 riders a chance to enjoy 100km and 1,200m elevation from the LHR16 office down to the south coast. It was a fantastic day out, ending with classic fish & chips and a few celebratory drinks on the beach! Simultaneously 48 riders enjoyed a sunny depart from Amazon’s CDG10 office in Paris at 9am, heading towards Brussels, a 360km and 2,250m elevation route spread across two days. On the way out of Paris, the team took a rest stop at CDG7, one of Amazon’s operations sites, arriving under balloon arches and fanfare! The route wound through quiet back roads and pan flat canal paths arriving at the overnight stop in St Quentin. Day Two gave way to some rolling hills before a canal ride though Belgium to take us into the Grand Palace for our iconic photo.Overall, both rides raised £24.8k, with £13.4k towards NHS Charities Together (UK-based) and £11.4k towards Save the Children (Global).

Picking up where the group had left off last year, the fourth edition of the event in June 2025 will take Amazonians from Amazon Brussel Corporate office (BRU10) to Luxembourg where Amazon’s EU Headquarters are located.
